Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Your adventure begins as you touch down at Entebbe International Airport. Our Nyumbu Beyond Journeys expert safari guide will warmly welcome you, providing essential briefings before transferring you away to your lodge, where comfort awaits.
Day 2: Mabamba Swamp for Shoebill
After breakfast, you’ll head out on a remarkable birding excursion at Mabamba Swamp, a renowned bird-watching destination near Entebbe, famed for its population of the elusive shoebill stork. This early morning adventure begins with a scenic boat ride through the tranquil papyrus marshes, where expert local guides lead you to the prime spots for observing these prehistoric-looking birds. The swamp is not only home to the shoebill but also hosts a diverse array of bird species, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts. As you navigate the waterways, you’ll have ample opportunities to capture stunning photographs and witness the unique behaviors of the shoebill in its natural habitat. Day 3: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Murchison Falls National Park
After a delectable breakfast, venture towards Murchison Falls National Park, traversing via the captivating Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an exhilarating Rhino tracking experience. Delight in a sumptuous lunch before marveling at the majestic Murchison Falls, nature’s symphony in motion. Spend the night amidst the park’s tranquility.
Day 4: Guided Game Drives and Nile Delta Boat Cruise
You’ll wake up early to the sounds of the African bush and enjoy a hearty breakfast at the lodge. Today promises thrilling wildlife encounters as you embark on a morning game drive through Murchison Falls National Park. Keep your eyes peeled for the park’s diverse wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, lions, and numerous antelope species.
You’ll return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation during the hottest part of the day. In the afternoon, you’ll take a boat safari along the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls. You’ll marvel at the sheer power of the waterfall as it plunges into the gorge below, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
After the boat safari, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and an evening of leisure. Take advantage of the lodge’s amenities, such as the swimming pool or lounge area, or simply unwind on your private veranda overlooking the river.
Day 5: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Journey southward to the enchanting Kibale Forest, a sanctuary teeming with biodiversity. En route, visit the top of the falls themselves, where the mighty Nile River squeezes through a 7m wide gorge, creating the world’s most powerful water flow and the trademark rainbow. Thereafter, drive heading to Kibale, relishing panoramic vistas of the Rwenzori Mountains, aptly named the Mountains of the Moon. Kibale’s lush expanse harbors a diverse array of primates, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.
Day 6: Chimp Tracking & Bigodi Swamp Walk
Embark on an exhilarating chimpanzee tracking expedition in Kibale Forest, renowned for its thriving primate population. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the serenity of Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a paradise for birdwatchers and butterfly enthusiasts alike.
Day 7: Ndali-Kasenda Crater drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Set forth towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, pausing at the equator for a memorable stopover. As dusk descends, embark on an enthralling game drive, where encounters with Africa’s apex predators await amidst the park’s picturesque landscapes.
Day 8: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Have an Early Morning Game drive. There are over 100 mammal species that include Lions, Hippos, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, Elephants and the elusive Giant Forest Hog in this park. Return to the Lodge. In the afternoon, you shall have a boat ride on Kazinga Channel where you will have a chance to see different animals coming to take water and a variety of bird species.
Day 9: Transfer game drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will have transfer game drive in Ishasha and thereafter proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and hosts a variety of spectacular birds including 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemic bird species including Blue-throated Broadbill, bar-tailed Trogon and other beautiful forest species. You shall go to bed earlier this evening so that you are well rested for thrilling experience of gorilla tracking the next day.
Day 10: Gorilla Tracking and Batwa Community Walk
You’ll embark on a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, immersing yourself in the enchanting world of mountain gorillas. Accompanied by knowledgeable guides and trackers, you’ll journey deep into the heart of the forest in search of these gentle giants. As you trek through dense vegetation and rugged terrain, the anticipation builds until you finally encounter a gorilla family in their natural habitat. You’ll witness these magnificent creatures up close and observe their social interactions and behaviors.
In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of local communities, gaining insights into their traditional way of life.
Day 11: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After your gorilla trekking adventure, you’ll embark on a scenic transfer to the picturesque Lake Bunyonyi for a well-deserved relaxation. As you journey through the verdant hills and valleys of southwestern Uganda, the landscape unfolds like a vibrant tapestry, revealing the tranquil beauty of the region. Day 13: Game drive and Boat.
After morning breakfast, game drive and boat trip on the lake in the afternoon. Lake Mburo is one of the 2 national parks with zebras and the only national park with impalas in Uganda. There are no elephants and lions, so walking Uganda safaris are possible.
Day 14: Walking Safari Departure from Entebbe
You’ll wake up to the gentle morning light and prepare for a walking safari, the perfect way to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Lake Mburo National Park. Accompanied by knowledgeable guides, set out on foot to explore the park’s diverse ecosystems, from open savannahs to lush forests.
