Our Journeys starts and ends in Entebbe. on this 7-day safari we are particularly interested in primate lovers who will be able to visit Kibale Forest National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which collectively are inhabited by over 13 primate species. Bwindi has half the number of mountain gorillas in the whole world. It is a lifetime experience encountering these gentle giants spicing up all this with some wildlife viewing on a game drive and boat trip in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport, Pick Up & transfer to the hotel
You will be received by our Nyumbu Beyond Journeys safari guide on your arrival at Entebbe International Airport. You’ll be driven to your hotel so you may check in. The remainder of the day is yours to spend in any way you choose depending on your time of arrival. If you’d like to tour the Mabamba swamp or Ngamba Island, our staff will arrange a car or boat for an additional fee
Day 2:Transfer to the edge of kibale national park
You will embark on a transfer that will see you stay overnight at the edge of Kibale National Park. The drive is quite long but incredibly scenic passing through villages and lush green countryside. The beautiful scenery will amaze you all the way. Upon arrival at the accommodation, you will check-in and just relax.
Day 3:Chimpanzee tracking and bigodi wetland excursion
You will experience some serious primate business in Kibale National Park. It boasts the highest number of primate species in the world including chimpanzees that live in the wild in Uganda which makes it a perfect place to spot them. An experienced ranger will take you on chimp tracking in the morning. The activity begins at 8:00 am with a briefing regarding the rules of trekking the chimps.
Afterward, you will set off to search for them in the forest. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have a full hour with them. You will then return to the lodge for lunch and afterward proceed to the Bigodi Wetland Excursion. The Bigodi Wetland boasts an extensive array of biodiversity among which are several primates. It’s also a paradise for bird watchers. Among the major bird species within the area is the great blue turaco.
Day 4:Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park & Kazinga channel Boat Cruise
After breakfast, you will leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive will reward you with great views of Rwenzori Mountain Ranges as well as game viewing. You will have lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, you will have a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel for 2 hours. This will take you past very large populations of hippos and several other animals drinking water.
The boat cruise offers you a great chance for photography, game viewing as well as bird watching. Afterward, you will head back to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5:Transfer game drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park
Begin the day with a game drive in the morning just after an early breakfast.
Along the kasenyi and queen’s plains, there are chances of seeing elephants, lions, ug kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks, and warthogs plus various bird species. The drive will take you up to lake George where after you will hit the road to Bwindi national park where you will reach, check in and relax at the lodge.
Day 6:Gorilla trekking in Bwindi & Batwa cultural experience
You’ll have breakfast and move to the ranger’s post. You will receive some briefings from a ranger guide on the dos and don’ts during trekking.
Thereafter, you will enter the Bwindi forest for your adventure. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in its presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable.
You’ll return to the accommodation, have lunch and relax a bit then move out for a community activity experience Batwa experience, coffee experience.
Day 7:Return to Entebbe via the Equator point to Catch a Flight
You will enjoy your early breakfast then checkout and hit the road to Entebbe via the equator point to catch a flight or be dropped off at a hotel of your choice.
