Day 1: Arrival and trek to Sine Hut
On the first day of the 3 days Hiking safari, you will arrive at the Kilembe Trailhead near Kasese, where you will meet your experienced guide and the porter team. After a necessary briefing, you will begin your trek through the lush Montane Forest zone.
The trail is steep but beautiful, characterized by the towering trees, thick mosses and giant ferns. This section is rich in birdlife, and the atmosphere is cool and damp. You will ascend approximately 1000 meters to reach the overnight stop at Sine Hut (2596m). the hut itself is a highlight, built on wooden slits with stunning views of the valley below, that offers a comforting end to the challenging first day.
Day 2: Ascent to Mutinda Camp and Descent.
On the 2nd day of the hiking safari, you will begin the day hiking through the bamboo zone and soon enter the spectacular Afro-alpine zone. This is a surreal landscape dominated by gigantic, bizarre plant life: massive Giant Lobelias and Giant Groundsel that look straight out of a prehistoric movie.
The trail climbs steadily to a viewing point near Mutinda camp (3588m). from here, the views are breathtaking, offering a clear panorama of the surrounding valleys, the rugged peaks of the main Rwenzori chain, and the distant Western Rift Valley plains.
After increasing your time taking photos and absorbing the otherworldly scenery, you begin a steady descent back down through the vegetation zones to return to Sine Hut for the night. This descent is carefully paced to manage the loss of altitude safely.
Day 3: Final Descent and Departure.
On the final day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After the final breakfast at Sine Hut, you will begin the hike down the same forested path. The descent is generally easier on the lungs but then it requires careful footing due to the potential mud.
You will reach Kilembe Trailhead by late morning or midday, where you will be given the certificates of achievement.
