Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Bujumbura and transfer to the Hotel
Meet and greet at Bujumbura Airport with your Nyumbu Beyond Journeys; pick up and transfer to your hotel, Club du Lac Tanganyika. Depending on the arrival time, you may proceed with a Burundi city tour in Bujumbura, including; The Explorers Memorial, a huge rock in the Suburbs of Bujumbura commemorating the meeting between explorers Livingstone & Stanley; Independence hero mausoleum and Unity monument, Belvedere Hill offers a lovely view of Lake Tanganyika and the city.
Day 2: Karera Waterfalls – Source of Nile – Gishora Drum Sanctuary
After breakfast at 7:00 am, transfer to Rutana to see the amazing Karera waterfalls and the source of the Nile in Rutovu. Visit Gitega National Museum, a collection of artifacts and antiquities from Burundi and Gishora Drum Sanctuary before transferring to Bujumbura. Overnight at Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika.
Day 3: Transfer to Bujumbura
After breakfast, you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to Bujumbura by a Burundi tour guide. You will visit Rusizi National Park, where a boat trip is available to allow you to explore the hippos and birds in the Rusizi River more closely before your airport drop-off.
