This 14 days’ Gorilla Trekking Adventure in Uganda offers an extraordinary journey through the country’s diverse landscapes and rich wildlife. The adventure begins at Entebbe unwind and embark on a unique shoebill tracking expedition. Murchison Falls National park, Kibale Forest, known as the “Primate Capital of the World,” offering thrilling chimpanzee trekking experiences and forest walks.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

As soon as you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by our Nyumbu Beyond Journeys safari guide who will then transport you to the hotel. Here you can relax or, depending on your arrival time, spend some time exploring before settling in.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.

Today you go to Lake Mburo National park, the park is famous for its large herds of zebras and recently groups of Giraffes can be transferred to the park. You will have a stop at the equator for a photo moment and the experiment. Check in at your lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will embark on a walking safari in Lake Mburo where you will be guided and escorted by an armed ranger enjoy wildlife like giraffes, impalas, zebras and buffaloes with other many birds. In the evening you can opt for a night game drive in the park to spot the nocturnal animals majorly the leopards (This activity can be paid from the park).

Day 3: Morning game drive and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National park.

After breakfast head out for a morning game drive, have a chance to get deep into the park to explore its whispers. Have a chance to view zebra herds, giraffes and other wildlife. After the drive return to the lodge have lunch, refresh and check out. Head to the hills of Kisoro driving through the winding roads and arrive at Mgahinga in the evening.

Day 4: Golden Monkey tracking and Relaxation on Lake Mutanda.

Today you will start the day with a Golden Monkey trekking in Mgahinga national park. You will be transferred to the briefing Centre by your guide. After the briefing you enter the forest with a guide for golden monkey tracking. After the tracking you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

The afternoon is at leisure, you will visit Lake Mutanda for a boat cruise.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National park and visit the Batwa.

Wake up have, breakfast and after drive to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Drive on the winding road with the views of cultivated hills. Arrive at Bwindi check in at your lodge and have lunch, after lunch visit the Batwa and have a chance to learn about their history and culture.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi impenetrable

Today you track the mountain gorillas in Bwindi NP. After breakfast you go to the park offices for the briefing. After the briefing, the search begins for the Mountain Gorillas. Depending on the location of the family you are going to visit, the trip can take a few hours to 7 hours. The landscape is mountainous so take good walking shoes and it involves hikes. After this exciting experience, it’s time to relax at the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, through Ishasha sector.

Today you get up early for the drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. The drive is through Ishasha sector. The sector is known for tree climbing lions and you get a chance to spot the lazy cats as they rest in the figs. Then continue to the northern art of the park where you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Morning game drive and Cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

Today you get up early for the game drive in the Kasenyi plains. This is the area with the biggest chance to spot lions, but there are many more animals. During the game drive will also visit one of the craters and salt lakes that are in the park.

After the game drive you will have lunch before you take a boat trip on the Kazinga channel. This channel connects two lakes and along this canal many different animals live, especially waterfowl. After the boat trip, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Kibale National park with a Fort Portal city tour.

Today after breakfast, you will drive for about 2 hours to Fort Portal town. Upon your arrival, you will visit the Kings Place- (Tooro Kingdom) and the Karambi tombs, you will learn about the history and the culture of the Batoro. After have lunch, where you from lunch visit the Amabeere G’anyinamwiru, stalactites and stalagmites in Nyakasura. From here, drive to your lodge for check in.

Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Wetland walk

 You drive to the visitors Centre in the park for a briefing. Then the walk starts in the rainforest, the walk can be quite heavy and it lasts for about 3 hours, take good shoes and long pants plus rain jackets. There will be a lot of time to listen carefully to see if you can hear the Chimps; the rangers are trained in this so chance are that you will find the Chimpanzees!

After the Chimp trek it is time for lunch and then a walk through the Bigodi wetland. During this walk you will spot many different birds and perhaps some monkeys. When time allows you and still feel like a walk then you can go to “top of the world” where you have beautiful views over the area with a number of crater lakes.

Day 11: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park.

Today the journey continues to Murchison Falls National Park from Kibale. It is a ride of 6 to 7 hours. The journey is long but also very beautiful with a beautiful varied landscape, the hills and mountains you drive through are become greener and greener, until you reach the savanna of Murchison falls.

Day 12: Game drive and Nile Delta Boat Cruise.

Wake up early with a cozy breakfast and embark on a guided game drive in for the big 5 wildlife like buffaloes, lions, leopards, elephants and more other what nature can offer. Drive through the savanna as you look out for lions, leopards, giraffes, antelopes and colorful birds. After the ride through the park you go back to the lodge for lunch.

 In the afternoon you will embark on the Nile Delta Cruise to the bottom of the falls on the Nile starts. The trip takes about 3 hours and during the tour you will see a lot of wild animals, such as Hippos, Buffalo, Crocodiles and perhaps some Elephants. You will be dropped at the bottom of the Waterfall and to take a hike up, along the Waterfall and get to the top of the falls.

This hike is pretty steep and slippery. After the boat trip / hike it is time for dinner at the lodge. Your guide will meet you at the top and transfer you to the lodge.

Day 13: Rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary & transfer to Kampala.

After breakfast, it is time to travel back to the city. Together with the guide you drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, here you go on foot in search of the White Rhino! Ziwa is the only place where the rhinoceroses have 24-hour surveillance.

Walk with the rhinos is a remarkable to celebrate conservation to Ziwa takes about 2 – 2.5 hours. After lunch you drive to Kampala where you check in at your lodge. Later at night you can opt for a night life experience.

Day 14: Kampala City tour and transfer to the airport for departure.

After breakfast, have a tour around the city; visit the local markets, Old Kampala Mosque, Rubiri and Amin torture chambers and the craft market. Depending on your outbound flight, the guide takes you to the airport.
