Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi.
Your safari starts when you arrive in Nairobi, the bustling capital city of Kenya. Your safari guide from Nyumbu Beyond Journeys will welcome you at the airport, and be ready to take you to your luxury hotel. On the drive to your hotel, you will have your first glimpse of Nairobi’s busy streets, green parks, and warm vibes.
Once checked into your hotel, you will fill your late afternoon and evening relaxing, refreshing, and taking in the tranquil surroundings of your accommodation. In the late evening, your guide will be back to meet you again, to do a short safari briefing, and a discussion about the daily itinerary and activities, and what to expect during your luxury safari.
Day 2: Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Giraffe Manor.
After breakfast, your first adventure awaits at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, one of the best elephant orphanages in the world. You learn about the orphaned baby elephants, how they are rescued, raised, and returned to the wild. You may be able to experience the elephants playing and interacting with their keepers. After this heart-warming experience, you will move on to the wonderful Giraffe Manor, which is one of Africa’s most unique boutique hotels, located in a private conservancy where endangered Rothschild giraffes are free to roam as they please.
During lunch, tea time, breakfast or even afternoon tea, the giraffes will often poke their long necks through the windows to see if they can be fed a treat. The experience of being at Giraffe Manor is very magical, relaxing, and exclusive! You will take time to relax, take photos, and wander the incredible gardens before bed.
Day 3: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park.
This morning, enjoy a relaxing breakfast at Giraffe Manor, before River Crossing begins the journey to Amboseli National Park. Your drive takes you through open plains, Maasai villages, the beautiful countryside, and closer to Amboseli under the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance, which is makes the drive so special.
After checking into your luxury camp or lodge, you proceed to an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is known for its large elephant herds, typically browsing their way across the dusty plains with Kilimanjaro in the background. In addition to elephants, you also may see lions, giraffes, buffalo, hyenas, zebras, and many different species of birds before returning to your lodge to enjoy dinner.
Day 4: Full Day in Amboseli National Park.
Today is dedicated to a full day in Amboseli. You start early with a game drive when you have the best chance to see wildlife when they are most active and bustle. If it’s a clear day, the mountain will be visible during your morning drive and should provide opportunities for good photographs. It is easier to spot elephants, cheetahs, and lions in the morning. If possible, you take a break mid-morning, then continue with another game drive or relax at the lodge and enjoy the luxury facilities.
In the afternoon, you delve deeper into the park’s interior where swamps are located and often provide good sightings of hippos or elephants cooling off. By the end of the afternoon/evening, the sky turns golden, and you are afforded scenic photography opportunities. You will have a day to appreciate the wildlife and scenic beauty of Amboseli.
Day 5: Amboseli to Nairobi and Departure.
After breakfast, your check out , then meet safari guide and you do one final short game drive as you leave Amboseli. This may provide you with a chance to see animals just one last time before you drive back to Nairobi. Once in Nairobi, you will be transferred to the airport or your hotel, thereby finishing your luxury safari experience, now, you can look back and reminisce about the gentle giraffes of Nairobi and the great elephants of Amboseli.
