Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from the airport to the hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport and welcomed by our Nyumbu Beyond Journeys safari guide and He or she will brief you on your safari before transferring you to your hotel for your overnight stay in Kigali. Relax at your hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera & Evening Game drive
Meet your guide in Kigali at your hotel, have a short briefing about your trip, and later transfer and head to Akagera which is 2 hour’s drive away from Kigali, located in the Easter side of the country. You will reach the park and enjoy an en route game ride to your lodge, and have lunch.
After lunch, head for afternoon game drive in the park in search for wildlife. Later return and relax before heading for a night game drive in search for the nocturnal. You will later return for dinner and overnight stay at
Day 3: Boat ride and game drive at Akagera
After having your early morning breakfast, you will drive heading for game drive in the southern sector of the park, and later return, have lunch, before proceeding to Akagera and catch up with sunset boat ride at 4:30 pm. You will enjoy a wonderful boat ride, sighting a number of wildlife and many bird species. You will later retire at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Game drive and return to Kigali
Have your morning breakfast at the lodge and kick off, your game drive hunt, in search for the wildlife such as buffaloes, impalas, elephants, zebras, giraffes and much more. You drive will stretch to the northern side of the park, where much concentration of wildlife is sighted. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed during the course of the say, as you proceed with the game drive. As time pas by, at around evening ours, you will exit the park in the northern gate, and drive back to Kigali, reaching in the evening, and dropped at your hotel
Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Have breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, meet your guide, share a short briefing before you drive off to Nyungwe, which roughly 5 hour’s drive from Kigali. You will visit Ethnographic and King Palace museums along the way to Nyungwe later have lunch in Huye and drive to your booked hotel for dinner.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy walk
Have very early morning breakfast and drive off to the chimpanzee trekking point in Nyungwe forest. You will be joined by the park ranger guides, who will direct you in the forest as you enjoy and informative guided nature walk, in search for the chimpanzees. Number of other wildlife and bird species are sighted along the trails. On finding the chimpanzees, an hour will be allowed with them. Later return, head for lunch, before heading for a canopy experience, which is roughly an hour and half walk. Later return and drive to your booked hotel for dinner and stay at the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Gisenyi
After a relaxed breakfast, transfer for a boat ride in Karongi, where you visit a number of islands, and Lake Kivu, explore the Lake for boat ride, which is roughly 2 hour’s and later return and drive to Gisenyi, catch up with lunch along the way, retire at your lodge at leisure at Paradise Kivu. Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Today, after your breakfast, transfer to volcanoes, and visit Diane Fossey research centre, learn about her work towards gorilla conservation, later head to your lodge for lunch. After lunch head for a canoe ride on the twin lakes, which takes roughly 2 hours, and later return in evening for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking Experience
Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the gorilla trekking briefing from the park headquarters and thereafter, you will enter the jungle with your packed lunch to search the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy their life style in their real home. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour watching their social life as you take pictures. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sun screen and hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or whole day depending on the movements of these primates. After this gorilla tracking experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will just retire at leisure. Diner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Golden Monkey trek and transfer to airport
After your morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the park head quarter for golden monkey trek procedures, just like the gorilla trekking. You will have time with the golden monkeys, before you return and drive to your lodge, for lunch and refreshment, thereafter, hit the road to Kigali and later transferred to the airport to catch up with your flight back home, as you mark an end of your 10 days in Rwanda Remarkable Adventure.
