Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick Up & transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Your Nyumbu Beyond Journeys guide will pick you up from your Kigali in the morning for a scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park. Along the way, stop at Nyanza Royal Palace Museum, the former seat of Rwandan monarchy, to learn about the country’s royal heritage. Later in mid-day transfer to Huye for a guided tour of the Ethnographic Museum, one of the finest museums in East Africa, showcasing Rwanda’s history, culture, and traditions.
Arrive in Nyungwe in the afternoon and proceed for a tea plantation tour. Walk through the beautiful tea fields, meet local pickers, and learn how Rwanda’s finest tea is grown and processed. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Adventure
On this day, you will enjoy an early breakfast at your hotel before embarking on a thrilling hike in search of chimpanzee communities. The Rwandan chimpanzee population is thought to consist of approx. 400-500 individuals, confined to the Nyungwe National Park, including a small community in the Cyamudongo Forest. Prepare to hear these excitable primates before you see them, as their pant-hoots travel through the deep forest. During your hike, you may also spot migratory birdlife including the Ross’ turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrow hawk, and regal sunbird. You’ll return to the hotel, have your lunch then you will proceed with the Canopy walk adventure and experience a suspended bridge covering 160 m through the lush montane rainforest and 70 m high from the forest floor. This is one extraordinary activity that offers a spectacular view of the ancient forest. Later, after these experiences, you will return to the hotel, enjoy property amenities, have dinner, and rest.

Day 3: Colobus Monkey Trekking and Transfer back to Kigali
You will enjoy an early breakfast at your hotel, and proceed to the forest for the Colobus monkey trekking adventure. Once you spot the monkeys, you will normally have up to an hour to observe them. After your experience, you will return to the hotel check out then transfer back and be dropped off at your hotel residence or airport depending on your flight details.
