Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Karibu Rwanda!
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport and welcomed by our Nyumbu Beyond Journeys safari guide and transfer you to the booked accommodation, in Kigali for dinner and later overnight stay.
Day 2: Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Today, after having a relaxed breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you will head for Kigali city tour, with a visit at Belgium muse, where 10 Belgium Peace Keepers, who were the victims of the genocide were laid to rest and later proceed to Kigali genocide memorial ground, were over 250,000 victims of the 1994, Rwandan genocide, were given a decent burial in a mass grave. After the visit you will head for lunch, before driving off to Musanze, which is roughly 2 hour’s drive from Kigali to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Cultural visit
Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the gorilla trekking briefing from the park headquarters and thereafter, you will enter the jungle with your packed lunch to search the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy their life style in their real home.
After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour watching their social life as you take pictures. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sun screen and hut.
The gorilla tracking experience takes half or whole day depending on the movements of these primates. After this gorilla tracking experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, ready for the traditional performance at Iby Iwacu cultural Centre. Diner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Bisoke Hike & transfer to Kigali
After your morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Park headquarters, for briefing, later head for Mount Bisoke hike, which is roughly a 6 hours hike return. Mount Bisoke, has a beautiful crater view on top. You will later descend after reaching the top and viewing the crater and transfer to Kigali for your overnight stay.
Day 5: Golden Monkey trekking & transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, return to Volcanoes National Park for a golden monkey trek. Explore the monkeys’ bamboo habitat with a guide, who will lead you to groups of habituated golden monkeys. You will spend up to an hour with these monkeys. After lunch, check out and drive back to Kigali, stopping for last minute shopping in the Kigali Art markets. you will be transferred to the airport to catch up with your flight back home, as you mark the end of our remarkable 5-day safari in Rwanda.
